LET'S CONNECT!
I love hearing from you.
Are you looking to work with me personally or seeking referral to a holistic vet near you?
If you need advice or have a question, the best way to reach me is book a free 15 minute mini-consult.
Some problems or conditions are more amenable than others to the changes we can create with a virtual consultation. And there is no substitute for a real live veterinarian having their hands on your pet and doing the appropriate diagnostic tests.
If your pet really needs the physical interventions that a holistic vet can offer, like acupuncture or manual therapy, finding one in your local area has never been easier. Scroll down to the Referrals link at the bottom of the page, or click here for a list of "Find a Practitioner" links to the AHVMA, AVCA, IVCA, Chi Institute and AHV websites. Or just ask me!

Interested in having me work with your local vet?
Nothing replaces hands-on care. But often your local general practitioner is just as frustrated as you are with your pet's complex health problems.
I am always happy to consult with colleagues. But first make sure that your vet wants to reach out-- not everyone has the time or band-width to participate in this kind of collaboration. You can show them my CV, so that they can be reassured that my education and skills are science-based, not voodoo. (Though sometimes we need a little magic for these difficult cases!!)
My 14 year old dog Roxie jumped off my bed and landed the wrong way in October of 2020. She was hunched in the back and could not lift her head up or bend her head down to eat— couldn’t lie down or walk without help. Our vet put her on two pain meds and prednisone for a spinal injury at the base of her neck. She couldn’t even lie down! I had to prop her up with pillows and hold her until she fell asleep. Our vet said she also had a mass in her chest and we should consider euthanizing her, because she was old.
In my heart, I wasn’t ready to let her go. So, I did some research on holistic veterinary services. At the start, I was a little skeptical. But I contacted Dr. Gellman to get her thoughts on whether Roxie could be helped, and brought her in the next day with all her vet records and the x-ray reports.
She was so nice and caring with Roxie. Dr. Gellman took the time to explain everything to me and gave me some options to help my dog. She used acupuncture and chiropractic care to treat her back, and natural medicines instead of all the drugs that made her sleepy— we started on a cannabis tincture, Curcumin & Boswellia gel caps and a Chinese herbal formula. She slept the whole ninety minute ride home in my arms without fussing— which I found to be a sign of hope. When we got home, I was SHOCKED!! My Roxie walked to her food bowl and bent her head down to eat. She then walked to her bed and laid down with no problems. I still, to this day, can’t believe it. My husband came home that evening and could not believe his eyes either.
We followed up with a second treatment a few weeks later. Now, it has been almost 2 years and she is doing great. She still plays and goes for walks without issue. At 15 ½ years old, she is amazing. My vet supports the holistic approach of Dr. Gellman and is very pleased with everything that Dr. Gellman has done to help Roxie. I can never thank her enough for helping us and it clearly was the best decision. I have recommended others to Dr. Gellman because I feel her honest and caring approach and her unique treatments may help other animals live a better life.
